often when i read notes from lefists who are more knowledgeable than me, i get the impression "the collapse will happen any daaaay now".
there was a scene in BoJack Horseman where a soviet spy gives up on destroying America because he convinced himself that it would collapse by itself soon enough. and years later, this sentiment hasn't changed.
it's a belief that people would revolt once their quality of life gets low enough. i find this idea less and less convincing, having seen how the belarusian government fully suppressed the liberation movement, and how it took the russian people mere months to become numb to the deaths caused by their bombs.
