**Venison back strap steaks, hunted and butchered on the homestead**


Each year my brother spends some time hunting for deer on the homestead. He often gives us a doe in appreciation. This season, he only shot this one deer and gave it to us. I let it hang for a week before butchering. It's nice to have more variety in the protein for our dinners and the meat can't get any more local than this. I'm grateful for the abundance that surrounds me.
