Counterintuitive but helps prevent spinouts if you do hydroplane. I think it's actually the law in some places. Something else to think about is that the rubber compound on winter tires is softer, so they don't get rock hard in the cold, but wear a lot faster when it's hot. Probably the all-weather ones try to shoot the average, which may be good enough where you are. You might have to talk to someone local and knowledgable who can make a situational recommendation. I personally have a set of each for my car and think it makes enough of a difference where I live to be worth it.
