I get regular emails from people saying they want to start blogging because they read mine. It's the highest praise one could get!

Problem is, I'm starting to struggle to explain how. I used to say go to Tumblr or WordPress.com if you want a low-friction start, but these are enshittified AI harvesters now.

Self-hosting is the ultimate answer, but it's not always tenable.
