Today was one of those days that felt like summer was showing off. We arrived at Volcano Bay right at the 10 a.m. opening, securing some prime seats with a perfect view of the towering volcano. Every now and then, the deep, booming sound of drums and trumpets would echo through the air, a cue that the wave pool was about to get wild. The waves were fierce, but still, I think the one big wave at Typhoon Lagoon has the edge over Volcano Bays smaller more numerous waves.
The fast river was a hit, though. You slip on a life jacket, hop in, and let the current sweep you along in a fast, winding loop around the park. No need for slides today—I’m not much for them, and Em’s the same way.
After a few hours of soaking up the sun and getting tossed around by the waves, we headed back for a bit of rest. I did some video editing, and then we made our way to Olive Garden. We’d talked about stopping by the Premium Outlets, but after dinner, the day caught up with us. Instead, we headed back to the room, threw on some comfy clothes, and called it a night. Some days are best finished quietly, with nothing more than the hum of air conditioning and the promise of a good night’s sleep.
