, I'm afraid not. To be honest, these things always seemed "obvious" to me. Like, you want things to work for your users. When you do Python, you test with the current Python versions — and generally people are going to test next versions early, and file bugs for ya. You cover multiple platforms, and don't do bad stuff like assuming specific type sizes for non-fixed size types or unaligned accesses in C, and again — handle bug reports from people testing on other platforms. You don't pin hard to dependencies, and you update your pins often. Maintain stable API, stuff like that. But handling bug reports is the most important — the scope for problems is just so broad that you can't expect to figure it all yourself.
