What I like about modern Linux is the terminal is no longer an overbearing necessity. Like Microsoft PowerShell on Windows, the terminal is there on Linux, and you can use it, but you do not need to rely upon it.
Take, Ultramarine Linux (KDE Plasma), for example. Absolutely great for a newbie, because upon first install, you're done. You do not need to configure or add your drivers, firmware, media codecs, or repositories, that's all taken care of for you. It does not matter if you're using Nvidia, AMD, or Intel GPU's, that too has already been taken care of for you - In that regard, it is easier than Windows.
The user can easily add, remove, or upgrade apps through the app store. Better yet, they can also upgrade their OS through the app store, it is intergraded, and so updating Linux has become as easy as using Windows Update, when you receive a notification. Adding 3rd party programs is as simple as downloading an RPM package, and double-clicking, and it will install just as easily as a Windows Setup File.
