The effects of meltwater and heavy overnight rain on a river that hit its record twelve foot flood last week.

This is the Mersey between Flixton and Carrington just at the confluence with the Manchester Ship Canal at Irlam Docks. Ordinarily you'd see the weir where a modest sized river drops into the canal. It's just visible as a line of white turbulence in the river.
