I setup my own PDS for bluesky yesterday. It took around 20 minutes (inc. DNS!). Overall, it's been pretty seamless using my own data store on a cheap VPS with the rest of the ATproto network. The only issue I've had is with authenticating on a few 3rd-party apps, which I think I can live with. I'm going to give it a while longer to make sure there's no other issues, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to migrate my "main" account over.
