There's no good free format for CAD, but for 3D there are many OBJ for basic model data, Collada (it's standard but nobody uses it properly), Alembic and finally USD which is the newest by Pixar and can handle any use case but since it's newer in comparison it's not supported fully by everyone because the spec is huge.
