Correct, it doesn't make it right. But, as with so much else, security forces work is both desensitising and morally-corrosive. I don't think it should be a career in a free society. Term limits at minimum.

Abusers limit job, education and social opprtunities. Family as well if they can. Not gender-specific.

In my state, only one in six unhoused persons is a woman, yet between three and eight times more funding is available to house them (depending on how its measured). So not buying that either.

People can leave, but most choose not to, for rational reasons we pretend don't exist.
