I hired 6 people while I was managing, and I reviewed our listings and was blown away at how insane they sounded. But also I would have had to fight HR too much to change it. HR is trying to make the listing fit something that is orthogonal to what I was trying to accomplish.
So I would say always push back on the listing requirements. The biggest question I always have is do you want a robot or a person. Because if you want a person, then I assume you have an environment that encourages me to become part of the team and helps me learn what I need to be a part of it. Only a robot fits into their slot on day one.
