btw, i would never want to downplay how stressful it is to have shootings happening in your neighborhood. it fucking sucks! i hate it when people are like "lol it's a city, deal with it" nope! no one should have to deal with it. dense urban spaces and/or minority populations don't automatically cause shootings.
but if you're writing an article on rising homicides in DC, maybe lede with the people **experiencing the homicides**!! not the rich people feeling ambient stress.
