Reading a 1994 story by Le Guin which contains this: "My mother, forty-seven when I left, was sixty-five, a beautiful and fragile elderly woman."
Has so much changed since the 90s that sixty-five "fragile elderly" seem incongruous? I don't remember how I or others thought back then.
