The blockchain of Monero is not transparent, allowing for private transacting between users. The transaction fees adjust according to the volume of transactions, so you do not have to pay outrafeous fees when the network is congested.
Governments hate it more then they hate Bitcoin because it allows people to completely opt out of the banking system.
