I was just given an estimate of $12k to install a 10kWh battery for the house. With my crude modelling this would have a 10 year payback time. Basic assumption is that we get average 10kWh/day of absolute free electricity 9 months of the year, and in the worst 3 months we get it at night rate, and we continue to export excess solar at some modest level most months of the year.
I'll have to work on this some more but I'm feeling close to pulling the trigger on a battery now.
