The most important aspect of critical thinking is the act of questioning our own assumptions when presented with evidence that is counter to what we expect. It's easy to raise shields and cast protection spells against anything we don't know how to deal with. It's harder to lower those shields and allow the evidence to lead us to updated and refreshed conclusions.
