Fascinating world of (broken) ancient #glass: Fragments of more than 600 #Roman glass vessels, found in #Augsburg. The vessels were produced around 100 AD in Italy and broke presumably during transport to Augsburg, where they were buried in pits in a (glass merchant's?) backyard.
They may have been 'stored' in this way for later use, e.g. for recycling or to be used as additional ballast for ships.
