AIUI, if you knowingly take money from a sex worker in the UK, you are technically guilty of living off immoral earnings (i.e. being a pimp). Obviously for most professionals this is a largely theoretical risk, but if someone has a motive it *could* be used against them, and its a risk they don't need anyhow. So its easier just to say no. (But I'm not a lawyer: sorry if I'm wrong)
