I've gotten some writing done today, but it's been difficult to concentrate. I got some bad news about a friend's health this morning, which has upset me. He's 80 years old and isn't going to have much longer, maybe a year or two. There's nothing that I can do, and given that he's on the other side of the ocean, it's unlikely I'll see him again.
Forty-five years worth of friendship is just not long enough.
