I've always felt like there was something off with the racial bonuses... An elf is meant to be lithe and dexterous, but if the party rogue is some other race, then it makes the elf seem rather... average. A true racial benefit like darkvision seems better, and I wish we had more unique ones per race.

Are there general rules for setting up background ASI's & bonuses, so that it's easy to make custom ones?
