I also don't think people realize the amount of detective work law enforcement goes through to catch people. If the person doesn't have an active profile online they are currently using they basically have to go through a bunch of links in the chain and hope they keep logs. Or something extremely unique happened that an ISP detected that correlates with some action on a website. It's mostly just luck if it was a single occurrence of something as opposed to a website that is constantly online.
