That's been really bugging me actually, people don't realize how stupid this idea is because they were fed some fearmongering trash instead of what's actually going on.
What I heard is there were two nuclear reactors built on Three Mile Island. One had a meltdown, largely because the several private corporations who built USA nuclear reactors keep secrets from each other. Like you say, relatively minor, handled well, minor radiation leakage, and the tower was completely bricked.
The other reactor remained functional and fully operational for 38 years. Which is great, but... it's getting old. It wasn't decomissioned by screaming activists in fear of the nuclear. It was decommissioned in 2017 because it stopped being able to produce enough power to make up for operation costs. The company had been operating at a financial loss.

Tower 2 can't be turned on. Its reactor core was removed. The rest of it is a deadly radioactive mess in there. So what Microsoft is proposing is to run half of a decommissioned nuclear power plant at a loss, and just sort of pretend they can make money off of it.
