not literal headlines. but i would find a story that *doesn't* engage with current social issues to be weirdly censored, & irrelevant. social issues are a part of life. how can you write about life without them?
supposedly nonpolitical books usually do have an agenda. but because that agenda is comfortable for the privileged & thoughtless, it's invisible in the way that water is invisible to a fish.
