Can't play Heretic 2 because...

The native port uses OSS for sound output and L'Eunuchs sound API has been broken at least twice in the past 20 years. First, OSS was replaced with Alsa (which was much inferior), then Alsa was nuked in favour of Psshhhhhshshshhzzzzzzzsshshshshshsh-audio. Which is basically OSS in many regards but better (not really).
You might be noticing a pattern in how L'Eunuchs components are developed.
