there's a YouTube short about how Japan is offering 3,000,000 yen (£15,000) to live in their country + bonus expenses or something. And this is apparently in a drive to up tourism outside of the usual tourist areas. But good luck finding a place that will rent/sell to outsiders away from the cities.
