I have heard @fiatjaf say several times that he did not want #nostr to become just for bitcoin/lightning.
So the protocol itself should be implemented and maintained as platform agnostic as possible.
Clients can be as opinionated as they like.

FTX has set crypto adoption back years I am afraid.
So we have time to get it right.
