The main downside of Android is that some essential apps refuse to function when they detect a rooted phone or if Google Play Services are not working or installed. I believe there are workarounds for this in some Firmware/ROM. It's ironic that these apps, which utilize open-source technologies like Linux, k8s, Docker and MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL on their backends, restrict users from having a more open user experience. Anyone who running such system knows more about security than avg person
