For #SaturDoom, I bring you something you might not expect from me. My Silent Wake is sometimes typified as a Christian metal† band, in common with lead songwriter and lyricist Ian Arkley's previous band, but he firmly resists this categorisation in interviews, and the nearest the band's lyrical themes come are songs the reflect an absence or loss of faith, which is far more philosophically interesting than its presence, for my money.
