E-bikes really stand to change how our entire world works. If we are to subsidize them and invest aggressively in infrastructure, we’d fix so much. And make roads usable for those that actually need them over bikes.
It’s not perfect, it’s an absolutely ridiculous amount of lithium ion batteries. But it’s so much better than electric cars it’s not even funny.
And right now for a reasonably healthy person in a dense city with a modicum of infrastructure for it, it’s possibly to get across town twice as fast as a car and far far easier to find parking. And it would scale to everyone. Induced demand would actually be serviceable instead of practically infinite.
