Thing that amused me: the UK had (a pathetic) 0.2% growth in the last stats (August), which is being seen as a boost for the government pre-budget. If you drill down into the numbers, a lot of it was due to growth in professional services, specifically accountancy, legal and financial management.
Why did those areas have such a busy month at a normally-quiet time of year? Because people are frantically trying to move assets around in advance of the budget.
