If you have an external drive you don't need to be mounted, make sure to put nofail in the options in /etc/fstab. I had an NTFS disk that I have mounted for my steam games and such, but was otherwise nonessential for the system cause fedora to panic and go into emergency mode due to it not being able to mount it.
