If you're on #Android, check out Gadgetbridge for the companion app. 99% sure it doesn't share any data, just facilitates the connection, so any device they support should theoretically be okay. I have a PineTime, but they don't quite have background heartrate monitoring and logging yet. Most likely next update, though.
