Our best hope is that the federal government becomes mostly irrelevant. State taxes will rise because states will have to pick up the slack of governing. And maybe people will realize that getting double taxed for a state government that does most things and a federal one that does almost nothing doesn't make sense. And some state--or many states--will secede. My money's on California going first.
