Bernard Marx on Nostr: Although written and archeological accounts support existence of Mauritanian ...
Although written and archeological accounts support existence of Mauritanian soldiers, the existence of sub Saharan Africans in the legions was probably rare if any. The empire extended across north Africa, and Europeans of the time referred to the Moors and other north African soldiers as black. This is probably the root of some confusion in history. The further you go back in history, the less certain we can be.
