After watching yesterday's Relays panel #nostrica it's pretty clear no Nostr operator (client, relays, etc) are able to pay the bills.
That way it's very difficult to scale and reach a mass audience, clearly. That's why I liked the idea they hinted: set a certain %, say 10% of every zap goes to the Client from whom the person did the zapping, and another 10% to spread between the relays that the person sent the note to.
For the zapper, that amount of sats is gonna be gone anyways. For the zap recipient, it was money they didn't expect to get.
Example: I zap 100 sats to @jack for one great note he posted. Out of the 100 sats, Jack will "only" get 80 sats, and 10 sats will go to Damus (my client) and 10 sats will be split equally between the 5 relays I have configured.
What do you think? In the lack of a more sustainable way to monetize, this could be a good start.
