Yes. The pinnacle of the pyramid these folks are trying to build points towards some kind of fully-optimized human-like entity who I suppose we should just call a god. It takes a number of forms depending on whose theology you study--the measured life, the singularity, AGI, uploading one's mind to the cloud--but these are all of a piece. It'd be illuminating to draw out all the conclusions of the internal contradictions in this way of thinking. This guy seems to be a living embodiment of some of them.
