Should you see the headlines of, "Pope Francis Approves Blessings for 'Irregular' Same-Sex Couples"
Please remember that this is not a change. This is Frances once again trying to make the Catholic Church appear far more accepting than it really is. Also, the rest of the statement:
"...provided the blessings themselves don't in any way resemble a marriage. To avoid any confusion, the blessing should not be offered in conjunction with a civil union ceremony, gay or straight."
Priests can bless any thing and any body; this has been the case for centuries. That provision just means the priest is blessing two individuals, same as any other Tuesday.
