"content": "I'm a former legacy media journalist, and that isn't what happened. They didn't botch staying relevant. The problem was their business model relied almost entirely on advertising. When the internet became popular, the price of advertising plummeted. Legacy media suddenly was left without their main source of income. Meanwhile, online media still has not figured out how to make enough money on ads. Nonprofit media (e.g. public radio which has a subscriber model) have fared much better.",
