Earlier in 2024 I came across a #book by J D Vance, Hillbilly Elegy. It read like a simplistic Ted talk and didn't match my understanding of Appalachian complexities.

I then read "Appalachian Reckoning: A Region Responds to Hillbilly Elegy" by a host of people not impressed with Vance's condemnation of their region. So many stories.

Of the two #books, I recommend the Responses not the Elegy.
