It has finally dawned on me that the reason that the NSW Police / Mardi Gras fiasco has hit me so hard is because it runs right into personal trauma. One of the big reasons I never reported when I got raped about 18 months ago was fear of the police, and how they treat trans women specifically. So now, seeing NSW police force their way into Mardi Gras over community objections, in the wake of very high profile crimes against our community committed by one of their officers… yeah, that hurts 😔
