I maintain weight within a couple pounds each way, and have decent muscle mass, but it is hard for me to increase mass...and I lift heavy, use blood flow restriction training, etc. Most of the year, I think I just burn a lot by spending hours on a tennis court - frequently playing against high school players who want to beat the old man!
That means it likely does come to diet and I tend to be low carb since most of my food is meat/dairy/eggs/berries/honey. I try to get my carbs from the honey and lower sugar berries vs other fruit.
I do not eat much vegetables or pastas - occasionally some rice or sweet/russet potatoes.
