To be fair... it's probably for the best that something is eating thousands of ants every day. Otherwise we'd be up to our ears in ants... and that might even be too much for me.
I have to carefully plan how much I feed my colonies for just this reason. I once tried to introduce spiders to help control them... but they ate the spiders.
