While it is a scandal that 816 care homes were forced to close by the Care Quality Commission due to major failings in care, the proportion of those run by private providers are only a little over-represented in closures.
Perhaps the bigger issue is that around four fifths of adult & child care is carried out by for-profit providers.... when profits come first, care can only come second.
What really needs to be address is the service model itself!
