Whenever I'm dealing with some Christian who is super into "every word of the Bible is the absolute truth and divine word of God!", first I point them to all of the various translations of various verses, some of which result in different translations directly contradicting one another. Then, I teach them about the Council of Rome, where the Emperor of Rome locked all the bishops in a room and told them they had to all agree on a canon based on the hundreds of different "holy scriptures" and letters and bits of the Torah whatnot written over thousands of years. And this was over 200 years past the time of Jesus.

It'd be like if there wasn't an actual signed US constitution, having an President 250 years later lock a bunch of people into a room and force them to agree on what the constitution should be based on any letters written by any of the "Founding Fathers", books written by enlightenment philosophers, etc. And somehow, coincidentally, the letters and documents they all compile seem to support the idea that Presidents are good.
