Train 42 was the JR East SL Gunmachan Minakami, pulled the beautiful 4-6-4 C61 20, built in 1949. This is probably the last year of semi regular JR East steam, and there was a lot of local excitement. It's also very rare to be actually ride behind a 4-6-4, as they were only really a North American & (postwar) Japanese thing.
