Transparent funding for Bitcoin education is crucial
we should support every org that does this & question why others do not
we should support every org that does this & question why others do not
quoting note1war…60lu🙏🏼 Update on where our funding comes from so far this year (through Q3):
▪️ 77% Grassroots
▪️ 5% Grants
▪️ 18% Corporate
▪️ 0% Government
Our historical numbers (from founding until December 31, 2023) are 65% Grassroots, 22% Corporate, 13% Grants and 0% Government.
How do we categorize our funding?
➖ Grants are from a foundation
➖ Corporate means a sponsorship from a corporation
➖ Grassroots is individual donors and everything else, such as a Charity Auction we had this year in April
Next Quarter & Next year
We expect the biggest % of Q4 to be from ‘Grants’.
In the future, we may adjust our categories. There is some funding that could be categorized as either Corporate or Grants, so we may combine those. We may also create a new category for Sales & Services, which would start small, but hopefully grow with time. For example, this would include merch sales, which currently count toward Grassroots.
Next year, we plan to keep this updated quarterly as part of our commitment to be transparent with our funding—expect greater transparency with everything.
‘Open-source Everything’ is a great slogan. We will work hard to turn it into a proof-of-concept for a better world.
Onwards!
