He had a right to his opinion, but Robbie Coltrane wasn't afawk, trans. He didn't speak for the community he did not experience what it's like to exist while trans.
Take race for example: If a white person doesn't think what they said is racist, but black people do, then it's probably racist. Listening to marginalized communities is a very good idea.
