The entire language of capitalism is meant to prevent thinking about this: "production", "manufacturing", "value added". We produce *nothing* except knowledge and art, which are worth nothing without a livable biosphere. Everything else is just reconfiguring minerals we've ripped from the earth into trash we throw into a landfill, the atmosphere, lakes, rivers, oceans, the water table. What we do with it in the middle is lost in the noise.
