On August 15, 2010, a bug in the Bitcoin Blockchain caused more than 184 million Bitcoins to be created.
This incident is known as the Value overflow incident and was related to Block No. 74,638 of the Bitcoin blockchain. Within this block, there is a transaction that resulted in the creation of 184,468,440,737.09551616 Bitcoin units for 3 different addresses. The bug was that two addresses received 92.9 million bitcoins each. Meanwhile, the miner who solved the puzzle of the block was rewarded with only 0.01 BTC, which of course did not exist before the transaction.
